Erik Planer

Erik Planer formed Rubber Room View with fellow University of Oregon students Geoff Wooden and Andi Summers in the fall of 1995. Pooling their influences, they created a psychedelic sound reminicient of early Pink Floyd and Smashing Pumpkins. Rubber Room View split in 1996 when Planer moved back to Portland, but not before completing the 4-Track album Leading Up to Now, a spacy and drugged out ode to lost love and time. Erik Planer began work on his solo debut, concept album Naked in Hawaii in late 1997. The album, recorded at Willbridge Studios in NW Portland, took two years to complete.

Planer wrote, produced and recorded most tracks for the project with guest appearances by Brett Campbell of Red Line 6 fame, Erhan Ergenekan, Charlie Jayne and Cameron Tiescher. Dubbed "Thorzine Music" by some, Naked in Hawaii is a tribute to late 60's psychedelia. Planer formed the downstairs with former HazyTrane drummer Bryan Neary in late 2000. the downstairs broke up in 2001 after the completion of The Rise of Agriculture EP, also recorded at Willbridge Studios.

Taking almost two years off from the music scene, Planer formed Cheap Fine with William Fish Fishman in 2003. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
