Enguma was formed by four classmates from Arcibiskupské gymnázium (Archbishop Grammar School) in Prague, Czech republic during August 2011. The vocalist Anna, the keyboard player and backing vocalist Maya, the guitar player Tereza and the drummer and occasional backing vocalist Dominik were just trying to rehearse in a poorly equipped room that would serve as a rehearsal studio in the basement of the above mentioned high-school, when another classmate Štěpán came in claiming that there is a bass missing and that he will learn how to play the bass guitar in order to become the band's bass player. That is how the band got complete. The name "Enguma" was invented on February 21, 2012 before the band's first gig on March 24 in the XT3 club at the occasion of an event called AG/KG Night. The name was inspired by the character of Justin N'Guma, a detective in the French TV show Julie Lescaut that was portrayed by the actor Mouss Diouf who unfortunately died a few months later.

The tragic fate of their namesake did not stop the band from making music. Enguma defined their genre as Rock-Pop-Jazz, but only reluctantly, since each of their songs was composed in a slightly different style and despite some critics branding the songs as being all the same. The members of the band managed to compose 7 own songs, usually based on a relatively strong keyboard line, alternatively on raw guitar riffs and very peculiar drum patterns. The lyrics written by Dominik & Maya or Dominik collaborating with Maya (except for the debut song Life's Cruel written by Anna) are either strange, wannabe sarcastic, crazy and tragic short stories (as preferred by Dominik) or a mixture of even weirder expressions of feelings and obscure imaginations (as preferred by Maya). However, all members of Enguma stayed clean throughout the existence of the band. While mainly playing their own songs at live performances, the band also often added a cover of The Ceasars' Jerk It Out and, occasionally, a song that was a special mix of Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Green Day) and Wonderwall (Oasis).

The performances usually took place in small music clubs, very often in the XT3 music club in Žižkov. Public open-air performances in Prague's venues such as náměstí Míru (the Square of Peace) and Sřelecký ostrov (Shooters' Island) might be considered the most significant successes of the band. The last concert of Enguma took place in a horrible pub Nad Viktorkou within a huge Prague winter club-festival Žižkovská noc on March 1, 2013. Afterwards, the members of the band focused on studies and other excesses. After graduating from high school few months later, most of them left Prague for other European cities including Berlin, Brno and Pardubice because of their university studies.

Enguma died again. According to surveys, the historically highest number of Enguma's genuine fans has reached the approximate level of 3. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
