Emma was born in Sussex, England, in the spring, with a great sense of humour. Fortunately. She danced, sang, and played the cello and the piano. It was quite clear from a very early age that the theatre was where she belonged, finding complete fulfilment in expressing herself in this way.

Then she went to a London music academy to study classical singing but, feeling too restrained, she left. Classical acting followed, loving the Shakespearean roles most, and Emma worked for a short time in television and radio, finding voice-over work great fun. The natural progression was to go into musical theatre, though the reality at that time slightly disappointed her. Emma then started to write her own songs at the piano, immediately feeling very at home in the creative medium, performing her songs widely, and then recording some of her prolific output.

But she was reluctant to sign her individual style away. She worked as a life drawing model for some time, discovering through this work an empowering method of controlling her mind at will, and finding it a surprisingly useful and enjoyable experience. She began to paint, often inspirational, abstract watercolours and loved the freedom of expression it gave her. Then she fled to her lifelong love, Italy, to study opera and began working as a dramatic soprano, specializing in the grand operatic roles but also feeling an affinity with the more modern chamber operas, adoring both the music itself and the singing.

Meanwhile she was performing concerts internationally with a highly acclaimed pianist, and became the muse of a wonderful and celebrated English composer. All of this led her to write and everything began to make sense. Emma believes in God absolutely and is pretty serious about chocolate and Ravel, too. Read more on Last.fm.
