Elle Alpha makes bluespop; a combination of melodic popsongs and bluesy rocksongs. Ella shows both strength and vulnerability in her songwriting as well as in her singing. The band accompanies her strong, moving voice perfectly and brings her songs to life. Ella was born and raised in Maastricht, in the south of the Netherlands. She started her musical career at eight years old by taking singing lessons at the local music school, which she continued until her eighteenth.
Throughout her youth, she performed with many bands, among which Quiver, for which she wrote her first songs. In 2008 she released a solo EP called ‘Search Before You Find’. In the same year she got accepted to study vocals at the prestigious Rock academy in Tilburg. Out here she has learned a lot about all aspects of music: from technical skills to theoretical and historical knowledge, but also knowing how to play the crowd while being on stage or how to do business in the music industry.
However, after an eventful year Ella decided to move north and start the band Elle Alpha while also studying Arts, Culture & Media at the university in Groningen. She managed to find four very talented musicians who are able to lift her ever evolving songwriting to an even higher level. With this band she already gained some local fame by playing at venues such as De Spieghel and Simplon, and at local radio stations. Elle Alpha reached the finals of the Rode Oortjes Festival and is booked for the mainstage of Gideon Festival 2011 on June 10th. Ella is ambitious and has a tremendous perseverance.
She has big plans for Elle Alpha and believes she has found just the right musicians to help her make her achieve her goals and make her dream come true. So watch out for this one and stay tuned!
