Hip Hop artist from Logan Square area of Chicago...Managed by Chilom Ent...... Born on a cold December day in a Humbolt Park hospital- Grizzly (or Grizz as he’s known to his homeyz) has had a very hard upbringing and this pain can be reflected through the lyrics. He is the 2nd child born to Mexican immigrants or “Mojados” as they were known to “Americans.” His parents were in a relationship that had its ups and downs. Grizz’s father worked in a metal plating factory to provide for all of his 7 kids. The pressure of raisin his 7 kids might have gotten to him because he began drinking and would be away from home for up to 3 dayz at a time.

His mother out of frustration would cry & would, “Whoop” her children. This went on in Grizz’s life well into he was 10 or 11. But that didn’t mean she didn’t love them, because she certainly did. Grizz can be called a Chicagoan for real – see he grew up all over Chicago- from the South Side to the North Side – to the West Side to where he came up – Logan Square.

His getaway would be listening to music – everything from “ Rancheras” to Hip-Hop. He remembers listening to a Friday night radio show that played nothing but hip-hop all night. He used to record the songs and listen to the tape & memorize the songs so he can rap along with it. One day in his 6th grade class he remembers listening to 2 of his classmates going back and forth rapping & the song they were doing was “Comptons in tha House” by NWA.

It was unlike anything he had ever heard period. He asked the classmates to let him borrow the tape to listen to it. Grizz rushed home to listen to the tape. Every bar - every cuz word - every beat that he heard was “the gospel”.

He realized that this music was what he loved - because Chicago in the late 80’s was a war-zone. Anywhere you went the Gang Wars were at their peak- you couldn’t go anywhere- or wear teams on your hatz, coats, t-shirts - let alone wear colors that might be gang colors. So listening to how it was in Compton was paralleled to how it was in Chicago - especially in Logan Square, where you had over 6 gangs trying to own their own peace of the “Square”. Grizz has always listened to “Gangsta Rap” - that’s what he prefers listening to.

In 2002 he had a female co-worker listen to a verse he put down on a beat and this co-worker began to cry - He asked her why she was crying? She replied by saying that because he was talented and was proud of him. This made Grizz want to write & record more. He alwayz had a recording in his cell phone of one of his verses. One day he heard there was a talent manager for an indie label in one of his truck stops.

He let the guy listen to the “Recording” and the guy liked it - told him he sounded like Frost, which he took as a compliment because Frost was another rapper he listened to and looked up to. This guy was Chilom he became Grizz’s manager & till this day he still is - Grizz has perform in various venues in Chicago and recorded music that has been Approved & Enjoyed by anybody that listens to it. He does music that he wants to do – no matter what! He plans on coming out hard with his music – First Logan Square, 2nd: Chicago- & Finally the World- Grizz say’z he aims high because you have to be an optimist. If you don’t think you’re the “ish” – know one will know you’re the “ish.” BIG GRIZZ HAS PERFORMED IN SOME OF THE HOTTEST HIP HOP SPOTS AROUND THE CHI.

HE HAS GRACED MANY A STAGE AND PUT IN DOWN LIKE HIP HOP IS SUPPOSED TO BE REPPED. MANAGEMENT BY CHILOM ENT. AVAILABLE TO WORK WITH OTHER ARTISTS INTERESTED. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
