Efaist

Efaist was born from the ashes of the legendary hardcore band Guam, springing from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Guam's sound was getting even more aggressive after the double full-length "Noturno/Diurno" , and so was the group dynamics. Efaist was born from the ashes of the legendary hardcore band Guam, springing from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Guam's sound was getting even more aggressive after the double full-length "Noturno/Diurno" , and so was the group dynamics. Guam's main songwriters, Paulo Henrique Sava (also vocalist and back-up guitarist) and Luana Campos (also vocalist and solo guitarist) had always diverged, and the band was kept alive by periods of dedication to side projects. When differences became predominant, the former side-bands became full-time bands, and Guam was dissolved after the "Anonymous" tour, in august 2003. One of Guam's descendants was Efaist. It began as a rhythm and poetry experiment by Deh Ollavero in the late 90's.

He recorded poems read in rap tone, without additional instruments. They revolved around the story of Efaist, a ficcional Egyptian Pharaoh who was a disciple of Akhenaton, in the 1200's B.C. Luana worked on instrumental back-ups for Ollavero's lyrics as early as 2000. But it was only after Guam's split that she dedicated her full and undivided attention to the project. Songs were composed (with Ollavero's help, for by this time he was a crafted guitarist), and the band made its debut at Ultimato, in Belo Horizonte, October 31, 2003, presenting a strong, technical, low-tone progressive groove, with sources as distant as heavy metal, hardcore punk, jazz, folk, samba and, more markedly, rap. Band Members: Luana C.
