Edith admits to focusing mostly on the lyrics. “If I didn’t write songs, I’d probably be a politician or a journalist”, she says, “...but politicians have to put equal stress on all matters of society and journalists sometimes have to write about subjects they can’t relate to. As a performing artist- and songwriter I am free to be as ego-centric as I damn well please. Edith wears her heart on her sleeve and she has never had any problems with speaking her mind. That, however, has gotten her into quite a few conflicts over the years.
School was a pain and she often found herself wishing away, to the other side of the Atlantic. Turning 17 she’d saved the money and built up courage enough to go. She ended up in an american mormonfamily with eight children and one culture shock led to another. Long periods of loneliness, homesickness and emotional rollercoasters tickled her creativity and she started to write.
-She hasn’t stopped since. After the maxi-single Waste Another Day, released in Sweden on June 22, under the name Edith Backlund, comes the first single Much to Cry About from Edith’s debutalbum titled Merely Daydreams. Edith will also appear in a small part in Swedish Motion Picture “Lilla Jönssonligan och Stjärnkuppen” which opens in theatres sometime in early 2006. 3. Edith is also a czech alternative-experimental band. See http://bandzone.cz/edith. 4.
Edith is also the artistic name of Edith de Camargo, a swiss singer and composer that lives in Brazil since 1995. She's the lead singer of brazilian band Wandula, and has already released three solo albums: “Lîla” (2001), ‘’Couleurs du temps’’ (2003) e "Sing Song" (2013). Read more on Last.fm.
