Ed Bentley was born in Accra Ghana in West Africa. His early start with music while studying at school and performing with School bands got him playing the Double Bass and Electric Bass at 14 years and the Acoustic and Electric Guitars at 18 years.Meanwhile he had been studying piano at school as well and shifted to the Church organ playing for some Sunday Church Services. This is where he got his Gospel Roots. At sixth form level Ed jammed around with local bands like the Barbecues,Barons,The Star Hotel Band and a few more before leaving for the UK to study Law in Nottingham. After three years of study Ed formed a local Band called Rootz where he played Electric Guitar as there were no good players for guitar who could play anything other than Reggae.Ed got quite frustrated with the standard of play and moved to London. This was the begining of his real Jazz roots. He settled in quite well and was soon rated by the London Jazz musicians having purchased his first Hammond Organ. He then went on to bigger and bigger things with 4 Vinyl and 6 CD Albums to his name .Over the years he worked with Deniece Williams,Percy Sledge,Al Casey,Robert Watson,Irene Reed,George Williams,Michael Hashim,Hugh Masekela and the list goes on. www.myspace.com/edbentleyjazz Read more on Last.fm.
