Echo Me, Astronaut
Echo Me, Astronaut
The music won't sit still. Woods. Ufo's." Echo Me, Astronaut was a project that I started in my first year of college, in hopes of understanding what it meant to write a song. I am not sure that I succeeded, but in between its conception in 2004 and its dissipation in 2006, Echo Me released around 25 songs, toured both the U.S.
and Japan, and contained within it around 15 members. I will list them now: Ates, Herman, Jared, Skyler, Tom, Anthony, Brian, Roberto, Brendan, Pete, Frank, Juanse, Jp, Kyle, Scott, Mike. The band that we became consisted of Jp, Scott, Mike, Kyle and I. Though Echo Me, Astronaut is no longer a live band, it will always remain a songwriting medium for me and anyone else that cares to record with me.
There are a good 20 or so songs I have recorded from 2006-2008 that will someday see the light of day. Who knows if anyone will care about this project by then. For those of you that do wish to explore with the members of Echo Me artistically, listen to our new projects. Scott, and I are currently playing in a band called Strangers Family Band. You can listen to our music here: http://www.myspace.com/strangersfamilyband Jp is playing in his own project called Surfer Blood.
which you can listen to here: http://www.myspace.com/surferblood Kyle moved to California in order to pursue film making. He has already worked on a film featuring Steve Buscemi, which makes him a success in my book already. I put off writing any sort of goodbye on this for quite some time, and now that I finally have, I am thinking that I should have written something better. Oh well, there really is no sense in romanticizing one's own endeavors. Echo Me was a dreamy, confusing, frustrating and absolutely fulfilling era of my life.
I know what it meant to me. Who knows what it meant to you. - Ates (sunday, May 11. 2008 1:59 a.m.) Read more on Last.fm.
