Easy Chowder is a folk band from Danbury, CT featuring Christian Eggers on instruments and vocals, Greg Kolenski on instruments and vocals, and Kate McLean on instruments and vocals. On a warm night during the summer of 2008 at a popular bowling alley in Brookfield CT, the three people who were to become Easy Chowder were hanging out with their friends. Although, most people there were bowling, Kate was studying for an upcoming biology exam for her summer class. Greg was distracting Kate from her biology studying duties, and Christian was probably bowling with everyone else. After all of them were accosted by a man trying to sell them a magic potion that turned anything into Bud Light Lime, Kate got to talking about how she really wanted to start a band.

Many of the friends showed interest in this idea for a band, but nobody believed it would ever get off the ground. Cut to the winter of '08/'09. Christian, Greg, Kate are getting ice cream from a small ice cream parlor in Germantown. On their way out the door, the trio overheard a father telling his unruly son "Easy, Chowder!" A phrase that would stick with these three for awhile. On to May of 2009. A friend of our heroes', AJ, wrote a poem in celebration for the birthday of Christian Eggers.

And Christian, always one to one up everyone, promised AJ a song for his birthday, which was coming up fast. So the trio got to work on AJ's birthday song. After the song was finished (only a little after AJ's birthday) the three friends decided that they didn't want to stop making music together. And this led to the formation of this band.

Looking back on a fateful winter night in Germantown, they decided to name this new band Easy Chowder. And thus, this band was born. Over the summer of 2009, Easy Chowder recorded three songs, and released them as their demo "Summer Demos 2k9." Aside from recording these three songs, they spent most of that summer together studying their surroundings getting ready for their inevitable explosion onto the folk scene in CT and beyond. This is the story of Easy Chowder so far. Keep a watchful eye out for Easy Chowder in the future.
