The Digital Antique instrumental project is based out of Austin, TX and started two years ago. Since the inception they have played around 40 shows including SXSW and have seen many changes in writing styles and band members. After playing live for the past couple of years Digital Antique feels that they have found the perfect combination of musical textures and musicians to capture the sound that they have envisioned. They are extremely excited about their debut CD release on July 23rd 2010, and have already received great reviews and international interest.
Their goal right now is to make this CD a success by consistently putting on a captivating live show musically while incorporating visual animation that tell stories of philosophy and imagination. Eventually they plan to tour Europe and see what the world has to offer on their quest to be a truly unique inspiration. Travis Kennedy (Guitar) earned two Audio Engineering degrees before working alongside grammy award- winning artists and engineers at Electric Lady Studios in NYC. He plays an atypical guitar style, at once logical and improbable, running the gamut of musical genres from classical to spaghetti western.
Travis has been performing live since 1998 and has studied under Steve Williams, former guitarist for Marcia Ball. James Parker Randolph (Bass) embarked on his musical endeavors in 1996, with a three-quarter Blaze electric guitar and clarinet(which he replaced with an alto sax the next year). While earning a Commercial Music degree at the South Plans College, he picked up bass and studied under renowned bassist John Reid. He developed a funky melodic style, incorporating unconventional time signatures and rhythms. Payton Holekamp (Drums) became an obsessive percussionist in the 6th grade. He joined the marching band drum corps as a freshman, and was hooked by the technical and challenging music for which he was naturally gifted.
Payton competed in state-level contests and performed in state concert bands multiple times before graduation, upon which he relocated to Austin. Previously he has drummed in several bands, mainly in the vein of punk, ska and metal, but he pursues proficiency in a myriad of genres including blues jazz, latin, indie rock and speed metal. In Digital Antique his versatility and percussive passion are put to good use. Alternating cast (Sting Quartet) Cello, Violin, Violin, Viola Read more on Last.fm.
