Die Plankton are Leeds finest nu-krautrock pioneers. Originally from Hamburg they have settled as one of Leeds most avant-garde artists, loved by few and hated by many. There musical forms are often challenging taking influence from Krautrock and the city around them, they create musical soundscapes and are known for their keen sense of irony. It is when Die Plankton play live that the magic really happens, often arriving separately at shows without a set list, the only thing that is certain about the gig is Die Plankton's famed loop pedal Klaus - who they often refer to as the third member. Arriving at shows to reveal to each other the instruments that they have bought at sound check - their sets are improvised magic. You may recall their show in Oswestry last year where Karl and Heinrich arrived with a banjo and eukelale. Fans were treated to a two hour set of country and skiffle songs with the Die Plankton twist.
