Dhopec is an underground hip hop outfit from Newcastle, Australia. They have a political conscience in their music and combine phat beats with tight cuts and incisive lyrics. The band was formed by Rhabdomancer and Dr. Fruit in late 2003.

Their first "self-titled" album was released in early 2005 after being mixed and mastered by DJ Wasabi of Fortknight Productions. Since then they have had a few tracks played on Triple J and won two awards at the "ABC 1233 Newcastle Music Award". They have also played with the likes of such groups as Combat Wombat, The Herd, Upshot, Nameless Crew and Leftacenta to name a few. They often employ different musicians to accompany them when they play live to try and boost the live music scene in Newcastle and in particular to rally support for Aussie Hip Hop in Newcastle. The last two years have seen the introduction of live kit drummer Kron Fusion, adding much to the sound and on-stage presence of the crew. The boys are looking forward to more touring in 2008-9 and recording their third release.
