Deorcr

Currently working on material for their first release, Dēorcr (pronounced 'day-ORker') is a Doom-Death outfit influenced by My Dying Bride, Katatonia and Anathema, amongst others. The band is made up of Demonifer (drums, guitars, bass); Lēoht (vocals); Katherine (violin/keys). Demonifer and Lēoht have previously worked together in an earlier band (tentatively named Miserichordia, based in Blandford Forum, Dorset), from 2003, where they played lead guitar and bass, respectively. It was during this time that Dēorcr's sound was first formed. When Miserichordia disbanded in 2005, Demonifer started working on a solo project and recruited Katherine as a session artist for him. It wasn't until a couple years after the dissolution of Miserichordia that Demonifer got back in touch with Lēoht, requesting some help with lyrics. So it was that, in the last part of 2008, Dēorcr was conceived. Initially, the pair engaged the services of Russ on guitars, but (due to stylistic differences) this union did not bear fruit. So it was that Sean was brought into the fold. Having never played in a band situation before, Sean soon adapted to his new environment and became a stalwart of the Dēorcr Age. In rapid succession, Rob, Dan and Tony joined the fray during 2010 but, due to a variety of reasons, Rob and Tony have since left. Filling the void left by Tony, Cyd was recruited to take on bass duties towards the end of 2010. Having never played before, she had to learn how to play the bass at the same time as learning the songs. In early 2011, Katherine was asked to join the band in order to bring a new dimension of violins to the mix whilst, at the same time, also lending her talents to the keyboard section of the band (since no replacement for Rob had been found). In June 2011, Dan quit the band, citing personal differences. In July, the band lost their rehearsal and recording space and went into hiatus.

Whilst unable to meet as a band Lēoht and Demonifer kept in contact and Demonifer continued to write material. Cyd left to pursue other interests and Sean joined another band. In 2014, Demonifer once again started working with Rob on new material, as well as mastering existing tracks. Read more on Last.fm.
