Darksound was born in Badajoz (Spain), 1999. Initially it was formed by three components: Ricardo Larios on guitar & vocals, David Lopez on bass and Jesus del Castillo on drums. In the year 2001 Javi Caldito (guitar) and Pedro Wichards (vocals) joined the band to complete it. Nowadays, these are the same components. In January, 2001 DarkSounD recorded their first official demo at Cube Studios (Madrid). This demo included five songs: Disappear, South-West featuring Carlos Escobedo (Sôber), Coping with the Feelings, Scream or Change, Hidden Back. It was produced by DarkSounD & Alberto Seara. DarkSounD self-financed and recorded their first LP "Irresponsible Optimism" in April, 2003 at Cube Studios (Madrid) including 8 songs; this album was co-produced by DarkSounD & Alberto Seara and mixed by Alberto Seara.

The band joined LENGUA ARMADA Record an independent label record in October, 2003. Lengua Armada published the album and EL DIABLO distributed it. DarkSounD handed one song over for several compilations as Rocksound sampler (nº 68), El Relevo Vol.1 (a Spanish rock bands compilation) published by Lengua Armada, Lo Mejor de El Diablo (The Best of the year distributed by El Diablo), and many more... At the same time, the band began to appear on media (TV, radio, press, Internet) and they were well received by the critics.

Besides that, DarkSounD appeared on many reviews of Rock Magazines like ROCKSOUND (nº 68 December, 2003), BAD MAGAZINE (nº 45, February, 2004), EL PAIS, etc. and websites like ALFA:OMEGA, INSIDEOUT WEBZINE.
