Dan Vallerand (born 5 July 1990) is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, satirist, and writer from Modesto, California. Vallerand has been an active singer since 1996, an active songwriter since 1999, and an active performer in the Modesto music scene since July 2008. He typically plays solo/acoustic material sometimes comparable to Daniel Johnston's, but has been known to play with a band every now and then, hailed by Solo Bass Jake as ""Weird Al" Yankovic meets a shitty Frank Zappa." His influences include Jeff Lynne, Electric Light Orchestra, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Neil Innes, Del Shannon, Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Kelly Groucutt, and the music from Doom, Mega Man, and the pre-1998 Sonic games. Over recent years Vallerand's music has gradually evolved from depressive and introspective to happier, catchier, and occasionally humorous, resulting in songs such as "Friendship", "The Fog", "I Wrote This Song (For You)", and "50,000 Volts Up the Butt", all of which have become fan favorites. Staples of Vallerand's live performances include audience participation, interaction, exaggeration, and lots of improvisation, and has been noted to bring to the table a very unique mixture of serious music and comedy - an uncommon and unusual sight in the Modesto music scene.

Additionally, Vallerand has shared the stage with other local musicians including Josh Rosenblum, Jordan Waters, Hannah Werdmuller, Reggie Ginn, Launchpad Away, and has performed in local coffee houses, lounges, and related places around Modesto, Turlock, Manteca, and Oakdale. Vallerand is also one of the current hosts of the Queen Bean Coffee House's open mic night, which he credits a majority of his career, networking with other local musicians, and gaining at least some kind of a local fanbase to for participating infrequently starting in mid-2008 and weekly since August 2009.
