There was cats everywhere, the couches smelled funny, it had a dirty concrete floor, no ceiling only pink insulation, and posters and artwork EVERYWHERE. This is where they recorded their first three albums, which are now instant cult-classics known as "The Basement Trilogy." In September 2009, they recorded and released their first album, "Magic Mountain", a 25 track smorgasbord of genre-hopping psychedelic weird-o punk rock. Exactly two ounces of marijuana were smoked during it's recording, and at least 40 beers were drank, all of it done in Sid's parents house cold-ass basement. Almost immediately DAN recorded "The Whatever EP" in October 2009, which was an about-face in musical style, with only six tracks each clocking in at over 12 minutes apiece. This is a progressive, noise/psychedelic epic jam.
Not for the faint of heart, which is why it wasn't released until Spring 2010. In February 2010, DAN had finished recording their third album, "Grandparents Forever", 26 songs of short, psychedelic punk/funk/metal/rock/noise/stuff! The band considers this their best album thus far, and is a fan-favorite. DAN had begun work on a new, as-of-yet untitled album, when in the summer of 2010, Sid and Clayton had to move out of "The Basement", our practice space, our hippie dungeon, our art factory. Even though they are only about a mile down the street, they lost a proper place to practice loudly, sort of slowing down the rate at which DAN could record new songs.
