Cordion is based in Oslo, Norway and consists of Christopher Johansen on vocals and Tommy Jansen on instruments and electronics, but they bring in help from talented friends where needed and required. Cordion met in 1999 and they soon hit their stride; by mixing acoustic instruments and vocals with electronic sounds and noise, and by combining traditional songwriting with more experimenting production techniques, they hope to push things forward musically in terms of expanding the genre. Cordion have released two full length albums on Beatservice Records; the self titled debut released in 2003 and Motifs in 2006. The working process: Both acoustic instruments, tools and toys from the attic were recorded in their studio and processed through dusty printed circuit boards, broken cables and granular synthesis programs in the computers.

What came out of this process were organic noise loops which were further processed and strictly rearranged. These noise elements are being used as a fundament for more melodic compositions and vocal harmonies. With all the weird stuff under control, it is time for the instrument layering. Piano, cello, viola, harmonium, accordion, glockenspiel, guitars and such is recorded before the most important element of the production is ready; the vocals.

Their interest in movies and European film and folk music shines through in the music. Its recognized in the moods, instrumentation, structure and tonality.
