It was in Collins teens that he really discovered music, eventually learning to play the bass guitar in a small band with other school mates. After graduating high school, his family picked up and moved to Greenville South Carolina. The move was primarily due to the political situation in South Africa and his parents deciding to relocate the family. A year later, Collin moved to Sarasota Florida and met his soon to be long time friend Duane Smith, who would later come to co-produce Collins music.
His time spent in Florida would be the foundation of Collin learning to play the Guitar and other various instruments. During the next 10 years, Collin would work several jobs; auto tech, factory supervisor, construction worker, just to name a few. He would also pursue obtaining his flight license and complete his certification with the Chapman U.S. Coast Guard Captains school and then spend several years living on various large boats (ranging from 70 to 110 foot) traveling the Atlantic. While living in a shipyard in Canada supervising the refurbishment of a 96 foot vessel, Collin began to take playing the Guitar more serious after spending time with a musician friend he made in Canada. It was during this period that Collin first began to write his own songs and develop his unique style, with influences ranging from American Blues, Rock, Country and his love for African music.
Collin also began to pick up other instruments including the harmonica and didgeridoo. He would later learn to play the Guitar, sing and incorporate the harmonica and / or didgeridoo into his songs while playing live. Collin spends his time now living in both the United States and South Africa. At the moment, Collin is living in South Africa writing the final songs for his highly anticipated first album scheduled for release during the fall of 2009. He plans to return to the United States where he will work with Duane Smith to record and produce the final tracks. Read more on Last.fm.
