They played their first show ever at the Meridian Coffeehouse in Williamsburg, VA. More shows followed that fall, and they began recording the debut album Summer Camp. Recording was sporadic, due to conflicting schedules and other logistical issues; as such, they had to go back and forth between using their own equipment in the Ewell band room and using the more polished equipment in the WCWM studio. The album, which is nine songs and exactly thirty minutes long, was finished in March of 2009 and distributed for free through online file-sharing tools such as Megaupload and Rapidshare. Josh had to leave the band in the fall of 2009 in order to attend school in Minneapolis, so Stephanie Monohan replaced him, making her the first and only girl to ever play in Clean Girls.
She also creates all of the band's artwork. The band has since relocated to Brooklyn, NY and released two EPs, American Mothers in 2012 and Last House in 2013. In 2014 they recorded a split EP with Vulture Shit titled Expensive Tastes, released on cassette via Mirror Universe Tapes. They released their second full-length album Despite You on May 5, 2015, available on vinyl via Accidental Guest Recordings. Music can be purchased digitally and on vinyl/cassette through Clean Girls' Bandcamp page, http://cleangirls.bandcamp.com. Read more on Last.fm.
