The Church Universal and Triumphant is a New Thought religious movement and organization founded by Mark L. Prophet and Elizabeth Clare Prophet. It is one of the branches of The Summit Lighthouse and its church groups can be found in many cities throughout the world. While the Church became well known during the late 1980s when Oprah and other media sources sensationalized one of many dictations received by Mrs. Prophet as being predictive of imminent nuclear war, CUT and TSL is a highly-developed mystical school that distributes and studies dictations from the Ascended Masters -- revealed to the Prophets in uplifting and well-referenced messages resembling the writings of the ancient Zen masters -- and also follows the mystical paths of the 8 major world religions. Since a recording by the church entitled Invocation for Judgement Against and Destruction of Rock Music appeared on the record Sounds of American Doomsday Cults Volume 14, it has been sampled many times by various musical artists—mainly in electronic genres.

Among the most prominent of these are Negativland, in Michael Jackson on the album Escape from Noise; Mylo, in Destroy Rock & Roll on the album Destroy Rock & Roll; O.S.I., in Set It On Fire on the album Free; and Fatboy Slim in a remix of the Negativland track.
