Christcentric

The passionate aim of CHRISTCENTRIC is to orient the whole of life to consciously treasure the Person and Work of Christ as the focal point of thinking and living. With this ultimate aim: · the eyes of the mind are set on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God the Father. · the feet strategically traverse its circles of influence looking to spread the fame of Christ. · the hands take up the towel of a servant looking to model the example of Christ.

· the mouth is ever ready to articulate the reason for the hope within. In short, the spread of Christ's fame is the heart cry of the group in all of its opportunities and in the whole scope of life. This CHRISTCENTRIC trajectory is fleshed out providentially in the lives of a group of likeminded friends who use their talents to glorify God by building up the saints and evangelizing the lost. With the passion of the prophets of old, they carry the name of Christ to their hearers through a lyrical brand of music they refer to as didactic music.

With the boom bap of beats and the melodic musings of rhymes they passionately preach, teach, and defend the message of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. CHRISTCENTRIC, headquartered in Germantown, MD (a suburb of Washington, D.C.), began in the mind and prayers of Evangel and Q-D.O.G. in 1996. Growing up in the hip-hop culture and loving to rhyme, they both aspired to one day become professional hip-hop artists. While separately on their quests in the world to make it in the hip-hop industry-each of them on a path of prodigal living-God took hold of their lives, brought them together, and changed their vision. Now equipped with a CHRISTCENTRIC vision and lyrical tools to unpack truth, Evangel and Q-D.O.G.

needed a producer. They began to pray. Then the Lord placed Evangel's close friend and former producer on their hearts. Evangel and Q began to pray fervently for his repentance and faith in Christ.

God powerfully answered their prayers. In 1997 the Lord responded to their prayers with the gift of salvation and the Apologist was born (born again that is)! The Apologist linked up with his band of brothers with a great fervor and zeal for the LORD, to make plain the truth of the Scriptures! Thus, the three began to pray and in 1998 CHRISTCENTRIC was born! Endeavoring only to exalt the glorious name of Christ, they committed to using their spiritual gifts to proclaim the greatness of God and truths of His word and to longingly look to God to bring effectiveness to the ministry. CHRISTCENTRIC began its public ministry in October of 1998 at a youth coffeehouse at Wallace Presbyterian Church in Hyattsville, MD (where Q was then the full-time Youth Leader). Since then, they have patiently waited for God to open doors for their ministry and He has provided opportunities to minister at various venues throughout the Maryland, D.C., and Virginia metropolitan area. God has opened doors for them to participate in outreaches ranging from rallies, outreaches, local services, and detention centers. With the transitioning of one member (Q-D.O.G.) into training for pastoral ministry and the addition of two members since that time, CHRISTCENTRIC has undergone a bit of a transformation.

The group is now comprised of the Apologist, Evangel, Israel the Puritan, and Doctrynal. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
