This 26 year old Newark, NJ native has been immersed in a passionate love affair with all things musical since the third grade. Choir Boy graduated from Newark's Performing Arts H.S. in 2000. He is an accomplished musician competent in reading and writing music as well as being proficient in playing the organ, piano, guitar and percussions.
With strong vocal capabilities to add to his resume, musically inclined would be the epitome of an understatement In August of 2005 Choir Boy released his debut album named Good Mourning America; emblematic of the bittersweet victory of his burgeoning music career coupled with personal tragedies. His older brother left Newark to fight in the war against Afghanistan and he lost a close friend to gang violence. Undeterred by life’s trials and tribulations Choir Boy continued what he started. In 2006 the New Jersey Star Ledger, credited Choir Boy with “Sparking a Cultural Renaissance”; using the arts, primarily Hip-Hop music, to unite the gang-ridden, dichotomized community.” Choir Boy, who writes all of his music and produces the vast majority, has been providing companies such as 2KSports (video game manufacturer) and Urban World Wireless (mobile content provider) who Choir Boy has a ring tone deal with, 100% original-sample free content.
Furthermore, he has scored independent movies such as the Inevitable Undoing of Jay Brooks produced by the writers of The West Wing. Choir Boy was also invited to record with Grammy nominated producer Jared Gosselin, the famed MC Chino XL, and is currently receiving radio spins around the globe with his hit single GOT’ EM which Allhiphop.com gave its highest rating of CERTIFIED. Choir Boy champions awareness for social issues plaguing society such as the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the self produced track, I Know Ya'll Heard of Me (Good Mourning America album) which is written from the perspective of the virus. Ultimately, Choir Boy has become a purveyor of hope for the Hip-Hop generation that people of every race, gender, ethnicity and age can identify with and enjoy from now until the end of time.
