There are at least two bands with the name Chapter. The first play acoustic sets as well as full electric sets. Their line-up ranges from the two front men to a whole five-piece band. Chapter was born in 2004, as a side-project for recording veteran and multi-instrumentist Thierry van Osselt and erstwhile drummer for the successful band Tim Patience Watch, Alexander J.S. Craker, himself a multi-instrumentist and singer-songwriter. Thierry has recorded, played or performed for numerous European bands, such as Honey for Petzi, Sinner DC, Shora, Knut, Time to Burn or Kruger to name but a very few. He’s also composed music for theater plays, movies and documentaries. Alexander has played, toured or recorded with such artists as Vargas, Demilliac or Tim Patience Watch, as well as contributed to movie soundtracks. Chapter’s self-produced first album, « One (Prologue) » was released in 2004.

The album soon received high praise, originating in Switzerland to slowly spread through the borders into adjacent countries and all the way across the Atlantic to the USA. The following talented musicians brought their contribution: Bernard Monney (Hell’s Kitchen), Christian Pahud (Honey for Petzi), Franco Casagrande (Dog Almond) and Alex Muller Ramirez (Equus). Saiko Records released Chapter’s second album in 2007, titled “Two (the Biographer)”. Five Roses Press promoted the record throughout Europe. Substantial airplay and media interest ranged from Spain, Portugal and Italy to Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the USA.

The band followed it up with a three-week long European tour, from Italy, through France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany and back to Switzerland. Rough Trade Records then distributed the record in Northern Europe. The following musicians brought their contribution: Franco Casagrande (Dog Almond), Alex Müller (Equus), Vincent Haenggi (Equus) and David Mamie (Equus). In 2007, Chapter featured in the rockumentary « A House On The Hill » by Eloïse de Breteuil, alongside other bands such as Knut, Honey for Petzi or Magicrays. In 2008, the band also took part in the original soundtrack for the movie « La Mère » by Antoine Cattin and Pavel Kostomarov, which received numerous prizes around the world (Buenos Aires, St. Petersburg, Sevilla, Agadir, Nyon, Leipzig). In 2009 Chapter recorded their third album, « Three (A Collection of Monsters) », to be released by Saiko Records in September 2010.

In May 2010, the band also recorded the Chapter IV EP to be released on vinyl by Moi J’Connais records later in the year.
