Capeside

“With members from some of Australia’s hottest bands including Horsell Common and The Getaway Plan, CAPESIDE are bringing the fun back into rock and roll with synthesizers, upbeat vocals and catchy guitars” (Drum Media, January 2007) Some say Capeside are a supergroup, others say the opinions of the band members parents shouldn’t really be taken as Gospel. Capeside has been a work-in-progress since late 2005 when, while packing boxes together in a crowded warehouse, Simo Blangiardo (vocals) and Leigh Pengelly (guitar/vocals) threw around the notion of starting a band. After jamming a few times together and seeing some potential in the project, the boys asked fellow workmate Lisa Gammaldi (keys/vocals) to put down the tape gun and pull out the keyboards. Hearing Leigh talk up Capeside during Horsell Common practice, Luke Cripps (bass) knew they were onto a good thing and decided to jump onboard the bandwagon. The task of finding the right drummer was a difficult one, however, a night out on the town (poaching those in other bands) proved fruitful as Anthony Doube’ (drums) of Magentaline decided to join the Capeside crew in late 2006. Five members up, and yet still something was missing.

After a chance encounter in early 2007 (or perhaps a pleading sms message) Benny Chong (guitar/vocals) became the Getaway Plan’s loss and the last piece of the Capeside puzzle – finally the picture was complete. Now, with all members in tow and a promising first few tracks previewed on the bands MySpace pace, Capeside are shaping up to be an unbeatable force of fun, feeling and undeniably catchy tunes.
