Campbell The Band
Campbell The Band
Want to have an impromptu video shoot? Borrow some cameras, invite some friends, and make it happen. That’s just how they roll and now they’re able to roll even harder. Recently signed to North Carolina-based Crowded Records, Campbell the Band has found itself with virtually unfettered access to studio time. Recording on a vintage Neve 8232 console that in its darker days once fueled Mötley Crüe’s rock and roll excess, the band has had the time and freedom to follow through on all of its musical whims.
Says lead singer Matt, “It’s really been great being able to tinker and experiment in a good studio, not having to rush things.” That ability to experiment has yielded very exciting results with Campbell the Band’s latest EP, Bear With Us. Departing from the raucous rock and roll they’re known for, Campbell the Band decided to record a collection of acoustic tracks and, just for fun, to track it mostly live. With vocal and instrumental assignments passed around like flaming hot potatoes, Bear With Us showcases the band’s sheer creativity, musicianship, and versatility. The EP also features guest appearances from Luke Skaggs and Sara Stephens (of Charlotte, NC powerhouse Songs of Water) who provide an especially stirring string arrangement on “This Family.” With its exploration of new territories and expert execution, Bear With Us is sure to surprise and delight long-time fans as well as attract new listeners. With plans already in the works for a full-length album and a rapidly growing list of summer tour dates, Bear With Us is only the beginning of a number of exciting developments. On the stage and in the studio, the re-formation of Campbell the Band is beautiful news.
