bound to confront was a hardcore band in the early nineties, hailing from oldenburg, germany. they started out playing fast-paced hardcore, much in the vein of some SXE heroes from new york and boston. bound to confront were legendary for their intensive live shows. later they slowed down their music to a heavier blend of hardcore with huge riffs and the very remarkable voice of singer 'feet'. bound to confront's first and only official recording was the EP "defy", released as a limited-edition yellow-and-black-coloured 12" in 1993 on the now defunct label sunstreet records, also from oldenburg, germany.

it was produced by the later infamous producer chris von rautenkranz ( franz ferdinand ) at the "soundgarden tonstudio" in hamburg. the EP featured four tracks, "uniform thoughts", "unnamed", "stumblin'" and "vermin-killer". it got immensely positive reactions all over the country. bound to confront could have become big at that time - but that's not what they had in their minds.

instead, they left their famous moniker behind and changed their name to schaub-lorenz (after a manufacturer of radios and amplifiers). they moved away from playing hardcore and went on with a somewhat chaotic kind of noise-core. schaub-lorenz continued to play live for quite some time, before they finally broke up a little later.
