Black Blue Fish... Very Beautiful were a Southampton-based group whose sound might be described as electronic trance rock. Fronted by the ever-eccentric vocalist Dave Scard, the band also included Jim Cole on guitar, Tristan Tull on bass, Mel Martin on drums and David "Chops" Wallace on keys. Black Blue Fish... Very Beautiful were a Southampton-based group whose sound might be described as electronic trance rock. Fronted by the ever-eccentric vocalist Dave Scard, the band also included Jim Cole on guitar, Tristan Tull on bass, Mel Martin on drums and David "Chops" Wallace on keys. The band formed after Dave Scard's frightful vision of a future ruled by giant insects inspired him to write songs. Their hypnotic rhythms, obtuse lyrics and experimental flavour attracted a dedicated cult following in the south of England where they played to packed venues throughout the 1990's and early 2000's until their split in 2005. The band was known for its exciting live performances which featured many experimental sounds and Dave Scard in a variety of costumes including a monk's habit and a diver's drysuit.
