Billy Clone and The Same were (along with their hardcore contemporaries The Consumers) one of the first major punk/New Wave bands in the Southwest. The band formed in the late 1970s when Mike Corte, Bruce Connole and Damon Doiron united to bring their cerebral punk sound to Phoenix. Corte was the group's chief songwriter. The group's known recorded output consists of a four-song EP, "X and Y", released on Moon Dog records and produced by psych music legend Mike Condello, as well as one additional song, "Don't Look Back", recorded for KDKB radio's "Arizona Sounds" series.

Tragically, Corte died of a heroin overdose in 1980; out of the ashes, Connole and Doiron formed The Jetzons, a more pop-oriented New Wave band that would dominate the southwest scene for nearly a decade. Both men continue to make music in Arizona bands to this day. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
