Beyond the Fall
Beyond the Fall
In 2005 the band traveled to Nashvilles Darkhorse Studios to begin work on Bright Idea. Six songs from the session were mixed at Memphis Ardent Studios by John Hampton (Gin Blossoms, White Stripes) before Beyond the Fall went into Vancouvers Greenhouse Studios to complete the album Its a straight-ahead rock record, explained singer Jason Wilkinson. Its melody driven with wide ranging, crafted lyrics. We've been writing songs for a long time, and we dug deep for inspiration for these songs.
We studied the elements of great songs, songs by the Beatles and other classic rock songs to get back to the basics on Bright Idea. The video for the song Bright Idea was played in light rotation on Much Music while singles "Rerun" and "Down in Flames" were released to radio garnering the band some much deserved radio play nationwide. Down In Flames was added to the Calgary Flames playlist on game nights. Roger Levins, whose Greenhouse Studios has been instrumental in hits by bands like Nickelback, Default, and Theory of a Dead Man, calls Beyond the Falls Conversation Piece the best pop-rock song to come out of Greenhouse in the last five years.
Greenhouse Studios Bruce Levins agrees on Beyond the Falls talent, adding, Beyond the Fall has one of the best live shows Ive seen on the west coast. In July 2006 Beyond the Fall was chosen as one of the top 5 winners and finalists for Vancouvers coveted CFOX Seeds record. Breaking bands such as Nickelback, Default, and Mathew Good, this was a giant step forward in Beyond the Falls career. The single "ReRun" enjoyed heavy rotation on The Fox in Vancouver and numerous stations across Canada picked up the single as well.
The band toured for the latter part of 2006 and took a few months off to get their bearings after returning from the road. In July of 2007 Beyond the Fall entered the studio again but this time it was a little different. Having come off their best year to date the band felt they had something to prove. So after numerous months of writing the band started at Mushroom Studios in Vancouver with producer Jeff Dawson (State of Shock, Daniel Powter) to record what they felt to be the best songs of their career.
The "Day in the Death of" sessions lasted for a month and they emerged happier than they'd ever been after a session in the studio. It was then mixed by famed mixer Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, Metallica, Rush, Led Zepellin, The Cult, Guns n Roses, Bryan Adams, Hedley, Hinder) and the single "A Day in the Death of" is set to be released across North America in mid September. In October of 2007 Hollywood releases the big budget Burt Reynolds film "Deal". Beyond the Falls song "Living Out My Dreams" is in the movie and on the soundtrack for the film as well.
The band also has a song or two in the upcoming Indie film "Cats Cradle" set for release in early 2008. Touring relentlessly, the band has worked hard for years to establish a reputation for explosive, high-energy live shows. The new recording captures their continued development as hard rocking, blue-collar heroes. Check out Beyond the Fall! Read more on Last.fm.
