This band was a culture that changed peoples lives, mainly just a way of life that everyone involved latched onto. In the basement.. it was where it was at for several years. The place to go to escape reality and live...
BEER.. and stuff! We had a Super PacMan machine and a tin man. A dog shabaz, Kenny's party van, and a love shack. The band played about 5 nights a week in the basement and started to play shows at a venue called "The Golf Klub".
We didn't play for much, in fact we got paid in bumper stickers with "Benkirkland" on them a few times. We played parties but it was usually the wrong crowd i.e. (punk rockers at a frat party didnt mix well). The basement became so popular that we started attracting different crowds.
Couches were pissed on, only to get set ablaze in the back yard the next day. My neighbors thought we were devil worshipers. But the main plan of all of us was..."Ok Kirkland you mow ur moms grass and get $5, Danny cut down some xmas trees get $10, Bub $5, Ben $5, Kenny $10, Roach $15(granpa usually came through), Greg $5, Brandon $5, Jeremy $5, Jason $20, Beavis $10, Jeff $5, Boobles $5, Snook $5, Andy $5, Casey $5, Yager $5, Rob $5, Zach $5, Andrew $5, Latham $5, Josh $5, Denny $5, Craig $5, and many more and many girls, sry if i didn't name you." Then either Roach or Dan would get Dozier and we would either get kegs or 6- 10 cases of beer depending on how much we could round up. This was a 6 day a week operation for quite the time. Eventually we parted ways.
As soon as it began it ended... some moving away and others going to work, and or starting families. Here we are in 2012 and Benkirkland is back. With Ben & Kirkland being the only two original members.
They've added good friends Bret Yager and Latham Novak on guitar and bass to help rejuvenate a sound and lifestyle that is years over due. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply..
