Bank Myna

Disturbing and authentic, Bank Myna's ghost wave plays with our emotions as much as it tightens its embrace on the psyche. If their imagination was a cathedral, the quartet's music would be a conscientious work of deconstruction trying its hardest to build a progressive, dark music, willingly counting on occult or dreamy atmospheres. With sound blasts skimmed through by a selenian voice, the Parisian band releases all its evocative power in a breathless, sometimes peaceful, act between oppressive post-rock and atmospheric drone. In 2016, on its introductive EP, the French quartet unveiled the first bits of its solemn and mysterious universe in which the biting sweetness of a bipolar tone was lead by progressive arrangements of great melancholy. The burgeoning band then joined Nøthing collective, uniting cold wave, noise, post-punk and shoegaze best hopes in France.

2018 is a year of metamorphosis for Bank Myna. Its new compositions now distil a darker, more incisive and violent atmosphere, as evidenced by its new track "Forest In My Head", which soundscape extends in our minds like a fiery forest fire. Incendiary and destructive, the quartet’s music now has everything to impose its fascinating imprint. It thus follows the example of its most eminent foreign inspirations, like Sigur Rós’ sound spectra, Anna Von Hausswolff’s possessed invocations and Wrekmeister Harmonies’ post-apocalyptic murmurs. After an immaculate and promising first EP, followed by several concerts as a support band (Amber Arcades, Fear of Men, Christine Owman, Widowspeak, Big ‡ Brave ...), Bank Myna announces its own succession. This first excerpt from a second EP expected by the end of the year, released on April 10, 2018, will be featured on Nøthing collective compilation #5. By Fred Lombard Read more on Last.fm.
