Bal Des Boiteux are: - Jeroen Baert : violin - Joris Blanckaert : accordions - Lieven Nijs : guitars & bagpipe - Tim Vandenbergh : double bass - Boris De Laet : drums > Bio The idea of bal des boiteux was created on a musical trip to sweden -about five years ago- in an atmosphere of scandinavian, balkan and african folkmusic.

In the next couple of years, the band went through some line-up changes which influenced the band's sound and vision. Joris Blanckaert (also boomfanfare) and Lieven Nijs (also boomfanfare) slowly returned to their poppy backgrounds while Tim Vandenbergh (also assunta mano) started his jazz-education. Jeroen Baert (also sioen, humble grumble, boomfanfare), a classical and jazz educated violin player, got in touch with bal des boiteux through boomfanfare and soon completed the bdb line-up. Meanwhile bdb had recorded four demos in as many years, got some airplay on national radio and played as many gigs as possible.

In the year 2002, bdb got to play on the international EBU-festival in germany and got in touch with Stef Kamil Carlens, one of belgium's finest songwriters, singer in zita swoon and ex-band member of dEUS, and the perfect artist to help bdb develop their debut album ...
