Three weeks after his first experience with the instrument, he joined a high school band. Eventually, he gathered experience while playing and performing with local Hard Rock and Heavy Metal bands. In 1991, he co-founded the band Trial & Error along with Uli Schulz and Dirk Wolf on guitar and vocals and Karsten Nogel on drums. In 1993, he came back to Iran and started his professional career. Since then, he has played with many singers and composers.

His work includes studio recordings and live performances with the most famous Iranian artists. The highlights of Babak's career include playing and performing along side Googoosh, Mohammad Nouri and O-hum. He first started writing with his band Trial & Error in Germany, "Trial" ,"Error" and "Black & White" are from that era. He also written and co-written songs with his former band Avizheh, which played a mixture of traditional Iranian music with Pop and Jazz. He doesn’t care much about a certain style.

He usually plays and writes whatever he feels like at the time, or in his own words: “I go with the flow & my music is a reflection of what I feel at the present time".
