The Altain Orgil band was established in 1993, with the goal to promote their Mongolian nation around the world by bringing traditional culture, long song, Morin Khuur (horse-head fiddle), Khoomei (throat singing), folk song, contortionism, and traditional dance. Since 2000, Altain Orgil has greatly expanded its repertoire through the inclusion of elements of world music, adding modern musical instruments such as the violoncello to harmonize with traditional Mongolian instruments. This new influence is seen in their 2005 album, Stream of the Eeven River. This juxtaposition of musical influences was considered the first such performance in Mongolia. As such, Altain Orgil hopes to continue promoting Mongolian traditions to younger generations as well as showing Mongolian traditional folk culture globally. Altain Orgil has participated in many international music, folk, and film festivals around the world, including events in Germany, France, Hungary, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Russia, and Colombia. source: https://mongolmusicarts.wordpress.com/altain-orgil/ Read more on Last.fm.
