Aleka (also spelled as Αλέκα Κανελλίδου) became a popular singer in Greece during the 70s and the 80s, but back in the sixties she was just starting out with her career. She recorded a single in 1967 with the songs "The more I see you" and "Stranger", with Vangelis to help out. Crazy Girl song was originally released in 1967 by Nelli Manou (comped on "Shakin’ in Athens") and later released by Aleka Kanellidou as well.

The song was one of the main themes of the Greek Musical Comedy “Oi thalassies oi handres” (The blue beads), and was about the love of a young rich ye-ye girl and a bouzouki player.
