Aides

The idea of Aides was born in 2001 when two Estonian friends - Kostja and Mike - decided to form a band. They tried out several musicians, but none of them seemed to be any good. It all changed on 4th June 2002 when they tried out who appeared to be an instant match - Mikk. The new line-up was Kostja on the bass and vocals, Mike on the guitar, and Mikk on the drums.

The band recorded their first demos, which were also featured on the radio. In the spring of 2003, Aides gave a few concerts. Despite their little time of existence, they landed gigs opening up for Blind, Singer Vinger, and Vennaskond on big festival stages. At the end of August they went back into the studio to record some new material.

However, along the way they made a tough decision to start looking for a new singer, so that Kostja could fully concentrate on playing the bass. They had no idea that the quest for a singer would take almost two years. After trying out more than 40 candidates, Aides, although without a new singer, are back with tons of new material. Aides have developed a unique and energetic style, which is very hard to define and which doesn't seem to fit in any scene or category. Aides are no doubt an important part of the modern emo sound and culture, but also introduce techniques and ideas new to the genre, such as funk, jazzy melodies and grooves, mingled with heavy but melodic riffs.
