Adrian Mojica and Ari Finkel were snowed in their apartment one day and began sifting through old VHS tapes. This inspired the two jazz musicians involved in various music projects to combine and create something completely strange and new. Their self titled album is built on the remains of these tapes in a way that mirrors the hauntological output of The Caretaker combined with abstract beatmakers like Ahnnu. 2.The Action Figures are a power-pop/rock band, based out of Sarnia, Ontario. Their debut album, Happy Busy Smiley Times, has already created a loud fuss in the indie rock realm of Southwestern Ontario.
The band boasts an energetic live set, with songs crammed with memorable hooks, stuffed with plenty of guitar insaneness. The band members are (vocals/lead guitar) Mark Tetreault, (bass/vocals) Sean Smit, (percussion) Barry Mielke, (vocals/rhythm guitar) Neal Evans. 3. The Action Figures are an aggressive power-pop influenced by '80s giants R.E.M.
in addition to '60s and '70s acts such as the Rolling Stones and Big Star. The band is comprised of Jeff Smith, Chris Piller and Jim Waters -- who trade off on guitar, bass and vocals -- and drummer Josh Rowley. The group released Big Wonderful in 1992 and returned three years later with Little Citizens. Both albums (plus an EP titled Lauraville) are available on EggBert Records.
