Their current bassist Tenko Hatori (aka Duc-Thuan Ngyuen, Bass) was the last one to finally complete the band in August 2009. Before that, the band was known to be performing without a bassist. Unlike other bands, Acira did take a lot of time to shape and polish their sound and live performance. In 2007 to early 2008, they started working on their first song ever written ("Deine Tage sind gezählt") together with their first producer. Because of personal disagreement between the bandmembers and the producer, they never finished recording the song and went to sp-audiolab in Sundern to continue recording.
Along with "Deine Tage sind gezählt" they also recorded first, rough versions of "Die Suche nach dir" and "Spiegelbild" - their first Demo CD was limited to a quantity of 50 CD's and wasn't meant to be sold. Most fans just knew those songs from their myspace. In Winter 2008 to Spring 2009, after getting loads of positive responses on myspace and people asking them if there was an album or something else coming, Acira decided to hit the studio again - this time to record their first EP called "Verloren". The "Verloren" EP originally included a total of 7 tracks and is still avaible on the band's myspace. The band never explained why the EP just ended up with the 4 newest tracks ("Erinnerung", "Gedacht", "Gefangen" and "Wenn du gehst") instead of putting the other 3 on there as it was promised in a myspace blog entry.
The older songs were approved for free download a few days later so everyone had the chance to own all the songs. Later in 2009, Acira finally started to play their first, real shows. They attended the Emergenza Band contest and got into the Ruhrgebiet finals, which was pretty unexpected but a big milestone for the band. They quickly gained popularity within their hometown and everywhere else. Acira also attended the Rewirpower Newcomer Bandcontest and played shows in Witten and Hattingen until Autumn. Their biggest success so far might have been the Maxi King Royal Soundz Bandcontest. The EMI Talent Scouts only picked 30 bands out of more than 3.000 bands that attended the contest and Acira was luckily one of them.
The majority of listeners voted for them and helped them to earn the title "Newcomer 2009" along with a Video Shooting (worth 15.000 €) and a Digital Single Release. One thing lead to another and in October 2009, they started recording at the Cubeaudio Studios in Göttingen with producer Markus Gumball (Guano Apes, Lovex, All Ends, Tamoto) - during a 4 day Pre Production, three of their songs were modified and re-written completly ("Spiegelbild", "Erinnerung" and "Die Suche nach dir") and are now waiting to be released to the public. An actual release date is not announced yet. For updates on literally anything, the band refers to their myspace, twitter and facebook accounts. Acira hopes to be back on stage later this year.
