AC (Alternative Control)

Alternative Control (sometimes simply AC to distinguish them from the Serbian dj-act with the same name) was "formed" at the turn of the last millenium. The band - though - had been around in about the same formation already since the mid-90´s, but with several different names. The bands music can probably be put under the vague alternative rock-genre. It takes ingridients from punk, melodic rock, grunge, garage rock, progressive rock, metal etc. and merges them together - the end product being the bands own unique sound. Read more on Last.fm

Sounding all the same time angry, nice, passionate, sceptical, dirty, clean, deep, caring and careless... The lyrics mainly discuss of our insufficiencies on both social and personal level. Zooming in and zooming out of them. The most long-term formation of the band was Juha Kalliomäki (vocals, guitars), Teemu Aittoniemi (bass) and M. Palmu (drums). The band didn't stay for long as a band though after their latest name change. They came to an indisputable halt around the year 2001 and haven't since been re-formed.

Despite the above fact Kalliomäki kept the bands name and continued to making music on his own. The first recordings from this area were made by a guitar, a 5€ microphone and some free software to make the drum tracks and to record and edit. However, some recordings from this area still came off with a suprisingly decent sound (namely Overnight Reincarnation which is also included on the bands promotional EP, Fractal). Kalliomäki continued writing songs and uploading them to internet by himself until 2006, when he and Aittoniemi decided to re-group and start to work on them together. As a conclusion they re-recorded some of their old material as well as new ones on Aittoniemi's eight-tracker.

These recording sessions also gave birth to some "release the steam" -type of more "conventional" feelgood rock songs, that are later been published on the internet under the name of No Space for Albert. 2008 the band made a 8-tracks long Demo EP called Fractal. It is a representative collection of their variable, but clearly AC'ish material from over the years.
