The band toured as part of the Groove Harder club nights where they played as part of their own nights with guest dj’s such as Gary “Mani” Mounfield from The Stone Roses & Primal Scream, Shaun Ryder, Clint Boon from Inspiral Carpets, Bonehead from Oasis, and Bez to name a few. The band also worked with ex Oasis Bass player Guigsy in 2001 at the legendary Rockfield Studios. A.K.A WEAVE had many notable fans and many well-known musicians often attended their gigs. The band were classed as unusual in their style and sound and going against the trend with their two DJ’s. One playing beatz the other scarachin with a 3 piece rock n’ roll band of drums, bass and guitar. A.K.A WEAVE came across original in their sound especially live.
They mainly took their influences from bands like The Space Monkeys, Primal Scream, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, The Stone Roses & Oasis. The band had also been described as sounding like Manchester legends Happy Mondays at the time, who members KAV and Mikey Westerman (Mikey Shine) went onto join on guitar and bass after the split of A.K.A WEAVE in 2003. The band split barely into their 20's. KAV played his last show for Happy Mondays at V Festival 2007.
He now tours and releases with his self-titled solo project KAV. KAV also went on to creating the Getloaded club nights in 2003 & co-launched The Getloaded in The Park Festival, which he has no longer any involvement with. Mikey toured with Shaun Ryder’s solo band after playing with Happy Mondays till 2011 & has now recently rejoined on Bass with KAV & is currently touring & recording with him. Mikey & KAV also played together in the band SonicAudio. DJ Cutz - Is still playing & working on the Drum & Bass & dance scene. Craig Allen - Runs his own building business. Kev Lawrence - Is working in Leicester.
